SafetyCulture is now called Mitti — it rebranded in August 2026 and safetyculture.com redirects to mitti.com, so you are in the right place. Mitti is a brilliant general inspections platform. Burgy is narrower on purpose: built for civil crews and plant, not generic checklists.

SafetyCulture made its name turning paper checklists into an app, and as Mitti it covers inspections, training, contractors, sensors and analytics for almost any industry — retail, manufacturing, construction, transport.
A civil contractor's day is narrower and more connected. The operator does a prestart on a particular excavator. A hydraulic hose fails. That fault needs to become a repair job, the repair needs parts, the 500-hour service kit needs to be ready before the machine hits 500, and the SWMS for the job needs the crew's signatures. A general checklist tool records the fail; joining it to everything after is left to you.
Burgy was built by a Northern Territory civil business to join those dots: prestart, repair job, parts, service and SWMS in one system. If you need inspections across many industries, Mitti is the better fit — and we'll say so below.

Template library and training. Mitti's library holds tens of thousands of inspection templates and over a thousand editable training courses, and it can turn your own PDF or slide deck into a course. Burgy has no training module, and its checklists cover plant and Australian safety documents, not every industry.
Sensors, IoT and telematics. Mitti monitors assets with sensors and pulls in telematics and GPS data. Burgy has neither.
Analytics and AI. Mitti offers analytics across the whole operation, and announced an AI assistant and per-location benchmarking for multi-site operators (itbrief, Aug 2026). Burgy's reporting is built for a single contractor, not a national network of sites.
Scale and brand. Mitti is one of the best-known names in inspections, used across retail, manufacturing, construction, transport and more, with contractor management that handles insurance and credentials for outside companies. If you need one platform for every site type in a large organisation, choose Mitti.
Where Burgy wins is the narrow, connected stuff a civil contractor does every day: a prestart that raises a repair job, service parts kits per machine per interval, attachments tracked as their own assets, and SWMS signed on the job next to the plant register.
SafetyCulture (now Mitti) is a broad inspections platform built on templates you set up. Burgy comes ready for plant and civil work, and keeps itself up to date as the crew works: the prestart, the repair, the parts and the SWMS on the same job.
Mitti runs inspections and actions, but has no parts or repair-job chain.
Not a generic checklist — a prestart that knows the machine. A failed item, with its photo, becomes a repair job, and if the item is marked critical, the fail takes the machine out of service and alerts admins.
Mitti schedules asset maintenance; it has no parts kits per interval.
Service schedules by hours, km or both, a colour-coded countdown per machine for the workshop, and parts kits per machine per service interval.
SafetyCulture sells SWMS templates separately, through SafetyDocs.
SWMS, JSA, Take 5 and toolbox meetings built in. Crews sign on their phone, and a job link shares its safety documents.
Both track assets and credentials. In Burgy each machine's hours, services and parts update as the crew works.
Every machine, vehicle and attachment in one register, alongside licences, permits, site attendance and jobs.
Yes. SafetyCulture rebranded as Mitti in August 2026, and safetyculture.com now redirects to mitti.com. If you searched for a SafetyCulture alternative, this is the right page — the product people knew as SafetyCulture carries on as Mitti.
If you want a general inspections platform with a huge template library, training and sensors, Mitti itself is hard to beat. If your work is civil and plant — prestarts on machines, faults that need to become repair jobs, service kits, SWMS that the crew signs on the job — Burgy is built for that specifically.
Mitti links to SafetyDocs, which provides editable SWMS documents for Australian and New Zealand businesses, delivered by email. Burgy builds the SWMS in the app, gets it signed on the crew's phones and shares it through a job link with the job's other safety documents, next to the plant register and the prestarts.
For plant prestarts and Australian safety documents, yes. Burgy is not a general-purpose checklist library for every industry, though — if you inspect retail stores, kitchens and warehouses as well as machines, Mitti covers far more ground.
The failed item, with its photo, raises a repair job against that machine automatically. Mark an item critical and a fail on it takes the machine out of service and alerts admins, and out-of-service machines are greyed out when crews pick a machine to clock on or start. The repair job then holds the parts, costs and photos until the job is done.
