Assignar is built around the scheduling board — who and what goes where tomorrow, and what it cost. Burgy is built around the site and the workshop: the SWMS, JSA and Take 5 your crews sign, and the prestart that turns a leaking hose into a repair job with parts.

Assignar answers the office's question: which crew, which excavator, which job, and are we on budget. It does that well, and it plugs into most of the accounting and ERP systems a bigger contractor runs.
The site asks different questions. Has everyone signed the SWMS for this job? Did the operator do the prestart, and what happens to the fault they found? Is the 500-hour service kit ready before the machine hits 500? Those answers usually end up in a form builder, a spreadsheet and the workshop whiteboard.
Burgy was built by a Northern Territory civil business for that second set of questions. If you need both, plenty of contractors will be better off running Assignar for job costing and something else for site safety and plant — and we'll say so.

Scheduling depth. Both put crews and machines on a roster against jobs. Assignar's board also catches clashes and notifies the crew, which Burgy's roster does not. If allocating dozens of crews a day is the hard part of your week, that matters.
Job costing. Assignar costs hours, plant and consumables to a job as the work happens, with wet, dry, standby and travel hire rates applied for you. Burgy tracks costs on repair jobs, not live job budgets.
Integrations. Assignar connects to Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Sage, Acumatica, Vista, Spectrum and payroll. Burgy connects to Xero. If your finance team lives in MYOB or an ERP, Assignar fits and Burgy currently does not.
Reach. Assignar runs regional teams across Australia and New Zealand, North America and EMEA. Burgy is a smaller Australian business — closer to the ground, but not built for a multinational rollout.
Where Burgy wins is the site and the workshop: Australian safety documents out of the box, and a prestart that raises a repair job which carries its parts. Burgy also tracks attachments as their own assets, each with its own prestart and a history of which machine it was on.
Assignar is strong at crew scheduling and job costing. Burgy is built so the safety and workshop record keeping happens as the crew works: SWMS signed on site, hours, services, parts, repairs and alerts update on their own.
Assignar has custom forms, but no SWMS, JSA or Take 5 built in.
SWMS, JSA, Take 5 and toolbox meetings as real documents, not a blank form builder you have to set up first. Crews sign on their phone, and a job link shares its safety documents.
Assignar records prestarts but doesn't raise repair jobs or track parts.
A failed prestart item, with its photo, becomes a repair job against the machine. Mark an item critical and a fail on it takes the machine out of service and alerts admins.
Assignar schedules maintenance by hours; it has no parts kits.
Service schedules by hours, km or both, a colour-coded countdown per machine for the workshop, and service parts kits per machine per interval.
Both cover licences, timesheets and jobs. In Burgy, clocking off a job also updates the machine's hours.
Permits and licences with expiry alerts, clock on and off, and site attendance against jobs and clients.
It depends what you bought Assignar for. Both roster crews and machines to jobs. If live job costing against budget is the heart of it, Assignar does that and Burgy does not. If what you actually need is Australian safety paperwork (SWMS, JSA, Take 5, toolbox meetings) tied to the plant on site, and a prestart that turns a fault into a repair job with parts, Burgy is the closer fit.
Assignar has customisable digital forms and talks about safety forms with an audit trail, so you can build your own. When we checked assignar.com in October 2026, SWMS, JSA and Take 5 were not named as built-in documents. Burgy ships them as purpose-built Australian documents with digital signatures, and a job link that shares its safety documents.
Yes. Burgy's roster schedules crew and machines to jobs by day or week, with drag and drop, copy last week and repeating rosters. Clocking on and off then fills in the timesheet against the job. Assignar's board goes further on clash checks and crew notifications.
The failed item, with its photo, raises a repair job against that machine automatically. Mark an item critical and a fail on it takes the machine out of service and alerts admins, and out-of-service machines are greyed out when crews pick a machine to clock on or start. The repair job then holds the parts, costs and photos until the job is done.
Burgy connects to Xero for invoicing. Assignar connects to a much wider list — Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Sage, Acumatica and several ERPs, plus payroll. If you run MYOB or an ERP, that is a real point in Assignar's favour.
